Marches
What are marches?
Marches are a form of civil rights protest that are just made to present a strongly felt opinion. often times involving many people who also stand for the same cause but can also be done individually to make a statement.
What did they do?
Police brutality became common towards the protesters who were directed not to retaliate with any violence during the protests. the protester would get sprayed by fire hoses or attacked by police dogs. people would grab random objects and beet them if the riots got intense enough. all the while, the protesters were forced not to fight back. During the civil rights era, marches were a strong form of protest. usually being done in big cities where civil rights was a serious issue. People would hold signs and chant as they walk through city streets to proclaim what they stood for. Unfortunately, may of these marches were med with intense brutality by people who did not share the same opinion on their cause or by police. (Rodgers)
