Deffinition
A boycott is a form of protest against businesses and services by having the individuals involved cease use of the particular business.
Example
In Montgomery Alabama in 1956, public busses were segregated. Though Caucasians and minorities were allowed on the same bus, certain rules were put in place. Minorities were ordered to sit in the rear of the bus and were required to sacrifice their sear if a white passenger could not find an open seat. (History)

Upraise began on December 1st when a women by the name of Rosa Parks was sitting in the back of the bus and refused to give up her seat to a white person. Being a colored women, this went directly against the bus rules and resulted in Rosa Parks' arrest. Parks' arrest sent off an uproar of protest. In response, the protesters conducted a boycott of the bus system forever known as The Montgomery Bus Boycott. This action claimed success by December 21, 1956 as the boycott had financially hurt the bussing system and court rule eliminated segregation on busses. afterward, the boycott ended but gained two things. it was a mile stone in civil rights and gave rise to the leader Martin Luther King.
